After months of serious consideration, we sadly decided to cancel the First Romanian Festival, Renaissance, in Hollywood, Florida, scheduled for the weekend of May 3-4. We came to the conclusion that at this time, there simply is not sufficient interest, funding and involvement from the community and local businesses to justify the efforts and expenses to implement such a big undertaking. We accept that the goal to host such a large event was a bit lofty and too ambitious for such a young organization.
With that said, we did not fully abandon our good intentions. As we look forward to future endeavors taken on by this organization, it is our hope that we will experience a higher degree of involvement and support from the Romanian community, local business and religious organizations that will allow us the opportunity to experience such an event. It is in the best interest of the community to celebrate our traditions and maintain our social/cultural identity.
To ensure that the organization accurately reflects and responds to the interests and sentiments of the community, we plan to conduct a survey to assess the opinions, interests and wishes of the community, as well as gauge volunteer and involvement interests. Based on the results of the survey, we will be able to better serve the needs of the community and plan future activities.
We strongly encourage you to please take a few minutes to complete the survey and give us your feedback. As soon as the survey questionnaire is completed, we will post a link on our FaceBook page and on the website where you can access it. As always, we welcome your input, ideas, suggestions, and encourage and desire your participation as volunteers, sponsors, vendors or simply as participants at any of our events.
