‘For your entire work, for your contribution to the dissemination of arts and letters in Romania and worldwide, for the artistic creativity (…), in one word, for your talent and, also, mostly for this friendship that ties you to my country, on behalf of the Culture Minister, I hereby name you Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters,’ the French diplomat told Gabriela Adamesteanu.
Gustin thanked her for the long friendship she has with France.
‘France thus acknowledges your talent as a writer, but also the quality of the connections that you have known to create between our two countries and the great availability you have always shown when it came to working by our side for a better knowledge of our literature in Romania,’ France’s Ambassador also told Gabriela Adamesteanu.
In her turn, Adamesteanu showed she saw this distinction as an answer of France to the ‘unconditional’ love that the writer has for the French language, for the French, for this country’s institutions, but also for entire France.
The author confessed that France had as much contribution as Romania in her literary training.
‘The French authors were very important in my literary development, same as the Romanian authors, or, maybe, sometimes even more,’ Gabriela Adamesteanu added. AGERPRES
