Almost 2 million Romanians named after Saint John the Baptist – 1,420,774 men and 531,197 women – celebrate their name day on Tuesday.
According to the statistics of the Directorate for Persons Record and Databases Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), 371,486 Romanian women are named Ioana, other 141,000 have the given name Ionela, 11,290 are named Nela, and 6,726, Ionelia.Among the men celebrating their name day on Saint John the Baptist’s Day, 411,149 men are named Ion, 514,865, Ioan, and more than 320,000, Ionut.
