Greek Ambassador to Bucharest, Grigorios Vassiloconstandakis stated, at the launch of the bilingual volume ‘The Greek Bucharest’ by Georgeta Filitti, that the relation between the two states can be defined in terms of continuity, while ?the Greeks never forgot how much hospitality Romanians showed to them’.

The seven chapters of the historical synthesis ‘The Greek Bucharest’ are ‘commented’ also by a rich number of illustrations: about 360 illustrations, selected from the most diverse fields — buildings, churches, manuscripts, editions in Greek and Romania, facsimiles, charters, papers, pictures showing the life of the Greek community in Bucharest over time.
The authors of the two forewords are Razvan Theodorescu, member of the Romanian Academy, and Evanghelos Moutsopoulos, member of the Academy of Athens.
The Greek version of the book was taken care by University Lecturer Tudor Dinu, the Coordinator of the Department of Neo-Hellenic Studies at the Faculty of Foreign language of the University of Bucharest. The publishing in special graphic conditions of the elegant album was also sponsored by the Arkadia Greek Cultural Centre, a foundation that supports the Greek School ‘Athena’ in Bucharest.
The Greek Ambassador to Romania said that, ever since he came to Romania, he dreamt to see an album like the one that was launched on Thursday. ‘When I took the book in my hands, I realized that it offers even more than I dreamt of’. AGERPRES
