Catre Toti Cei Interesati,

Referitor la Consulatul Itinerant

Pe parcursul discutiilor purtate de Dl John Banu cu persoane oficiale ale Ambasadei Române din Washington DC cu ocazia deplasarii pentru receptia prilejuita de aniversarea Zilei Nationale a României, s-a ajuns la un nou acord cu privire la deplasarea Dlui Consul General pentru o noua runda a Consulatului Itinerant din Hollywood, Florida. Termenii acestui nou acord au fost stabiliti de catre Ambasada si sunt publicati pe site-ul acesteia precum si al Ligii.

Ambasada a impus acesti noi termeni pentru evitarea oricarei interpretari eronate a legilor in vigoare. Desi primele runde ale Consulatului Itinerant s-au desfasurat in conditii legale si cu transparenta adecvata, agreate si apreciate de toti solicitantii, a existat o persoana care a ridicat problema legalitatii actiunilor noastre intr-o scrisoare adresata ambasadei (persoana in cauza, de fapt nici nu solicitase asistenta consulara). Nu cunoastem motivele care au dus la contestarea legalitatii atiunilor ligii cu privire la derularea activitatii consulatului itinerant.

Pentru acest motiv, incepand cu data de 8 Decembrie 2014, Liga v-a intermedia inregistrarea solicitarilor pentru asistenta legala consulara precum si stabilirea datelor de functionare a Consulatului itinerant numai membrilor ei activi.

Concerning the Itinerant Consulate

During the discussions Mr. John Banu had with officials of the Romanian Embassy in Washington DC at the reception on the occasion of the anniversary of the Romanian National Day, a new agreement was reached on the next visit of the General Consul for a new round of operations of the Itinerant Consulate in Hollywood, Florida. The terms of this new agreement have been established by the Embassy and published on its website and on the League website.

The Embassy requested these new terms to avoid any misinterpretation of the law in force. Although the first rounds of Itinerant Consulate operations met the requirements of the law with a proper transparency, agreeable to all applicants, there was a person who raised the issue of its legality in a letter to the embassy. Actually, the person in discussion did not even requested consular assistance. We do not know the reasons for challenging the legality of the League’s actions on the ongoing Itinerary Consulate activity.

For this reason, starting on December 2014, the League will mediate the registration of requests for legal consular assistance and the schedule of the Itinerant Consulate operating dates, only for its active members.
