Prime Minister Victor Ponta said, during the inauguration of the works of construction of the laser project at Magurele, that this is a historic project and he wishes, in the coming years, to see here an area that is exceptionally developed, a true “Laser Valley”.
The Prime Minister expressed his belief that many foreign researchers are to come to work on this “absolutely special” project, together with Romanians.
“There are many things to do in order for this project to be completed and to develop. Things can happen in Romania that we did not think possible. Yes, we can have the largest research project financed from European funds and it is the largest, I talk here of the amount, 260 million euros. Yes, it can be Romania, the country with so many problems in the absorption of EU funds. We can make research in Romania, we can have here one of the flagship projects at European and world levels “, Ponta said.
The inauguration ceremony of the construction works of the infrastructure project Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI – NP) was held on Friday, on Magurele research platform, an event organized by the Government, the Ministry of National Education and the Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering – Horia Hulubei ( IFIN – HH).
The event was attended by Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn, Minister of National Education Remus Pricopie, Minister delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development Mihnea Costoiu, MEN Secretary of State Tudor Prisecaru, Minister of EU Funds Eugen Teodorovici, Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean, Mayor of Bucharest Sorin Oprescu, Nicolae Victor Zamfir, Director General of the Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering – Horia Hulubei, members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Bucharest etc.AGERPRES
