Romania to join over 170 countries in Expo Milano 2015

Romania will be displaying in the Expo Milano 2015 universal exposition, May 1 – October 31, 2015, which theme is ‘Feeding the planet. Energy for life,’ Romania’s Foreign Ministry (MAE) reports in a press release.

A participation contract was signed on Friday in Milan by Romania’s General Commissioner Georgian Ghervasie and Expo 2015 International Affairs Director Stefano Gatti, in the presence of a large Romanian and Italian public that included diplomatic corps and consular staff accredited in Italy.

‘This is an exposition that has been held every five years since 1851 where each country brings in a uniform country concept,’ Ghervasie told Agerpres.

Romania’s pavilion will cover 887 square metres and it will be located in the central part of the exposition venue, close to the pavilions of Italy, France, Israel and Mexico.

MAE says the theme presentations will highlight Romania’s national priorities, such as sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, renewable energy, regional development, excellence poles, competitiveness and innovation. The pavilion will also underscore cultural uniqueness and the richness of Romania’s national customs.

As many as 139 countries have so far announced they will be displaying in the Expo Milano 2015, but organisers are expecting 170 exhibiting countries and 30 million visitors. The exhibition centre will cover 110 ha comprising themed pavilions, arenas, theatres and landscape architecture, MAE reports. AGERPRES
