Romania’s exports hit record level of 4.7 billion euros in Oct 2013

Romania’s exports hit a record level of 4.7 billion euros in October 2013, up by almost 10 percent compared with the same month of last year in values expressed in lei, and by 5.5 percent compared with September 2013, while Romanian exports advanced 8.5 percent January through October 2013 compared with the same period of the previous year, in values expressed in lei.

According to provisional estimates of the National Institute of Statistics (INS), FOB exports totalled 20.944 billion lei (4.701 billion euros) in October 2013, while CIF imports exceeded 23.802 billion lei (5.345 billion euros).

Compared with October 2012, exports surged 9.8 percent, in values expressed in lei (12 percent respectively, in values expressed in euros), while imports dropped 1.3 percent, in values expressed in lei (0.87 percent respectively, in values expressed in euros).

Compared with September 2013, exports climbed 5.5 percent in October 2013, in values expressed in lei, (and by 5.6 percent, in values expressed in euros), while imports went up 9 percent, in values expressed in lei (and by 9.8 percent respectively, in values expressed in euros).

According to INS data, FOB exports in the first ten month of the year accounted for 181.825 billion lei (41.179 billion euros), while CIF imports stood at 203.046 billion lei (45.986 billion euros). Compared with the same period of 2012, exports increased by 8.5 percent, in values expressed in lei (by 9.2 percent respectively, in values expressed in euros) and imports dropped 0.8 percent, in values expressed in lei (0.1 percent respectively, in values expressed in euros).

The FOB — CIF trade deficit in the assessed period stood at 21.220 billion lei (4.806 billion euros), down 15.893 billion lei (3.522 billion euros), from the one registered in the similar period of the previous year.

The value of intra-community trade in goods (Inside EU28) in the period January — October 2013 was 21.220 billion lei (4.806 billion euros) in shipments and 154.363 billion lei (34.978 billion euros) in arrivals, representing 69.9 percent of the total exports and 76.1 percent of the total imports.

In the first ten months of 2013, the following group of products hold important weights in the structure of exports and imports: machines and transport equipment (42 percent in exports and 34.7 percent in imports) and other manufactured products (33.0 percent in exports, respectively 30.3 percent in imports).
