Romania’s President Traian Basescu will be attending today a summit meeting in Vienna of the European People’s Party (EPP), according to a press release issued by the Presidential Administration.
‘Included on the agenda of the enlarged summit in Vienna of the EPP are the continuation of the consolidation of the EU’s Economic and Monetary Union, identifying innovative solutions to fund the economy, combatting youth unemployment, the EU’s enlargement policy as well as the start of EU accession negotiations by Serbia,’ reads the release.
EU and non-EU heads of state or government and opposition leaders of the European People’s Party, will participate in the enlarged party summit, which will take place in Vienna, Austria on Thursday. On the agenda will be the preparation of the European Council, scheduled for 27 and 28 June EPP reports on its website.
EPP President Wilfried Martens and Austrian Vice Chancellor and ÖVP Chairman Michael Spindelegger will host the EPP Summit. Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission – Herman van Rompuy and José Manuel Barroso -will also attend.
The EPP currently has 13 out the 27 members in the European Council. AGERPRES
