Romania wins the JW8+ event at World Rowing Junior Championships

Romania’s junior women’s eight team (JW8+) won the third gold medal for the country at the 2013 World Rowing Junior Championships at Trakai, Lithuania. Gianina-Elena Beleaga, Andrea-Maria Sticea, Antonia Cerbu, Roxana Parascanu, Ana-Maria Boca, Elena Turta, Cristina-Georgiana Popescu, Denisa Tilvescu and Georgiana Danciu ended the race first, having clocked in at 6:27.70, ahead of Germany (6:31.03) and Italy (6:32.59). Romania’s medal tally before the last finals on Sunday was two gold medals and two silver medals. Romania planning Internet ‘pass’ for youth

The Romanian Senate is contemplating the possibility to introduce an “Internet passport” in absence of which access to certain types of audio and video content would be denied. Concretely, the Romanian Upper House is considering the introduction of an “Internet pass” as a way to limit the access of minors to inappropriate audiovisual web content. The pass, in the form of a card, would only state the owner’s age and could be used as a permit to access certain types of audio-visual content based on a PIN code. Romanian economy Q1 growth 1.9 pct y-o-y

Romanian economy increased 1.9% in real terms in Q1 2013 compared to the same period of the year before, while the advance from Q4 2012 was 0.6%, shows provisional data released on Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INS). “The Gross Domestic Product estimated for Q1 2013 was 154.233 billion lei in current prices, according to seasonally adjusted figures, marking a 0.6% advance in real terms from Q4 2012 and of 1.9% from Q1 2012, respectively. Romania had over 20,121 million inhabitants, in October 2011 (Census)

Romania’s stable population was 20,121,641 people, on October 20, 2011, of whom 10,333,064 women (51.4 percent) show the final results of the Population and Housing Census – 2011, published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). According to INS, compared to the situation found out at the previous census, the stable population decreased by 1,559,300 persons, of whom 779,200 women, mainly due to external migration. Statistics show that 1,883,400 people were living in Bucharest. Traces of crested Pterosaurus found in Transylvania

Romanian pupils win gold, silver medals at Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad

Romania’s junior team has won six medals – two gold and four silver ones – at the 17th edition of the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, held in Turkey (Antalya) June 21 to 26, with Romania topping the unofficial ranking of participating nations, the Ministry of National Education informs in a press release for AGERPRES.
